I love the look of a short/modern wedding dress. There's something so informal and fun about it. While I was home last week for a friend's wedding, I had a chance to catch up with two of my best girlfriends (who are going to stand in my wedding). We decided to head to David's Bridal and try on a few wedding dresses. I had no intention to find the dress I will wear in the wedding; I really just wanted to see what I would look like in one. We grabbed a few short dresses that were SUPER cute, and Jenn (MOH) picked a completely lace dress in ivory as a joke because I hate lace. When we found our consultant and headed over to the dressing area, I tried on the short dresses first (because afterall, I wanted a short dress...). I thought the short dresses looked terrible on me! I mean at five feet and half an inch tall, I don't have a lot of leg to show off in the first place. It was awful. Then, I tried on the all lace dress. OMG. That was the dress. I almost cried when I saw myself in it... It is perfect!!!!
Jenn and Tina (her sister, and one of my bridesmaids) picked out their dresses while we were there too. I knew that I wanted to have the bridesmaids in the same dress, and that I wanted it to be strapless and knee-length. Some brides pick a color and have the maids pick their own dress: one that works for both their shape and their individual personalities.. I like that idea, but not for me. The color I want is called "latte." You can go to DB's website and look up the color. The girls found the dress in hot pink, which I love, but not for my wedding. =)
Here is a picture of me in the dress that I want, with Jenn and Tina in the hot pink dresses. I am soooooooo excited about my wedding. Yay for decision making!! Funny how I knew I wanted a short/modern dress and ended up hating it. Also funny that I hate lace and ended up falling in love with a lace-all-over dress. Maybe I'll end up changing every detail about what I wanted for this wedding... Time will tell.

Here goes nothing!!
I am a bride-to-be trying to plan the perfect wedding on a budget. I have no idea where to start, and let me be upfront: no one hates a budget more than I do... Like every other female on the planet, I've been planning my wedding since I was five. All that was missing from the plan was the Groom's name. hahaha Now that I have that detail under control, it's time to get to work!
Here are some of the details that I have been planning my whole life:
a small number of attendants (just our closest friends and family)
four people standing with me and four with my groom
my uncle walking me down the aisle
a short/modern wedding dress
wedding on the beach
getting married in the fall (awesome colors!!)
a string quartet playing the walking music but a DJ/iTunes/live band for the reception
earth tones for my colors
a head table for the wedding party
NO children at the wedding....
Since I got engaged (5.29.10), I've been obsessed with wedding details. The TV shows, the magazines, the dresses, talking to married people, looking at pictures, buying wedding related books. OMG, my poor finacé!! About thirty minutes after he proposed, I was on the internet looking for wedding venues.. hahaha Of course he wasn't ready to talk about the details yet - I think he was still in shock!
Now, it seems like he's more into the details, and I really want to know his opinions on everything. The last thing I would want is for him to marry me and think back to how much of a bridezilla I was, or how unhappy he was with what I had planned. SO, we're making a budget and I'm going to try my best to respect it... It's going to be tough though!!
I recently went home to see my dear friend get married. Her wedding is the first that I've been to since our engagement, and I used it as an opportunity to shop for wedding ideas. I've already given you a glimpse into a general idea of what I've always wanted for my wedding day, but I'm realizing that my previous plans really aren't what I want anymore..
